Due to a increase in enquiries for the charter of Class 40 Open racing yachts Owen Clarke Design have decided to separate charter function from the brokerage area of our website. Our aim is to make it easier to find a Class 40 to sail in great parts of the world and increase the availability for sailors to enjoy these exciting craft.
To that end we offer a service that links prospective charterers to boat owners and where that owner does not wish or does not have the time to manage the charter of the vessel themselves we will be able in most instances to propose a management package. In addition through our address book we also have access to crew, co-skippers and sailors who are experienced in this type of boat who can be available as race crew, for race training or just help with aclimitisation to the boat. In the past, in many cases owners themselves or their crew have also fulfilled or offered to take on these roles.
As a starting point we are currently looking worldwide for yachts to charter and sailors to charter those yachts. We'll then work with both parties as required to customise a solution, be it for a day, a weekend to experience these boats, a regatta, transatlantic event or for a whole years charter for something like the Portimao Global Ocean Race. As experienced designers and sailors in the class we're in an ideal position to help link people together and get boats and sailors out on the water.
Class 40 owners and prospective charters follow the links below to find out more about our service. For those new to Class 40 there's access to more information on the class, the boats themselves and some of the events that Class 40's have been racing in 2009. Read also about the Class Association 's own calendar of events as well as other races suitable for Class 40's in 2010 and 2011.
