The Owen Clarke Class 40 Cutlass has taken part in the first event featuring US based 40's this season. Cutlass (Newport RI) and the Akilaria 40, AMHAS (Portland ME) have just completed the 2011 Pineapple Cup from Fort Lauderdale, USA to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Cutlass, racing in PHRF 1 completed the course in a time of 5d 00h 57m, some 2h 31m ahead of their rivals on the Lombard design, owned by Brian Harris and Mackenzie Davis. Cutlass crossed the finish second in class behind the Santa Cruz 70 Donnybrook, but was beaten into third place on corrected time by a Santa Cruz 52, Renegade.

Nick Halmos reported that "Cutlass's first outing as part of the 11th Hour Racing Team was a success despite challenging weather conditions - a lot of upwind. We continue to refine our OCD steed and she gets faster every race. We have also achieved a new level of environmental efficiency with the installation of a hydro-generator, which helps to reduce the fuel burn required to complete a longer race sich as the Pineapple Cup."
