| La Solidaire du Chocolat gets underway to Mexico After a week of displaying their wares to the residents and visitors of Nantes /St Nazaire the fleet of 24 Class 40’s set off on this latest and demanding Trans Atlantic race. With a light airs start it was a relatively relaxed fleet that headed out into Biscay. With forecasts of winds up to 45 knots over the coming 24hrs things will likely be a little less relaxed In the early hours of Tuesday morning with a predicted weather front associated with a low pressure system centered off the west coast of Ireland sweeping the fleet. Peter Harding and Miranda Merron on board their latest Owen Clarke Design 40Degrees looked in good shape and appear to have opted for a more Northerly option keeping their track away from Cape Finisterre, tonight it will be a case of battening down the hatches and grunting up to the impending conditions. The race course of 5000nm takes the boats across the Atlantic from St Nazaire to Mexico on a path south of the Azores, through a scoring gate off the Island of St Barts sailing south through the Caribbean, over the top of the Yucatan peninsula to the finish in Progreso. It is expected the majority of the fleet will complete the course in around 30 days.
