Owen Clarke Design began offering the charter of Class 40 yachts through its website portal Class 40 Charter less than one year ago. A further aim of the site was to promote Class 40 sailing particularly to those sailors who have not sailed this type of yacht before as well as making  a pool of yachts available for crewed and short-handed events in which they would otherwise not be taking part.

The first year has been very successful with over a hundred enquiries through the site improving both awareness of the class and facilitating the charter of yachts for the Caribbean 600, Route du Rhum, Class 40 Worlds, the Global Ocean Race along with a number of other short term charters completed.

This new arm of the business has been a great success, particularly since the charter site only went live in the Autumn of 2009 and has not been advertised outside of the web. Owen Clarke currently have Class 40’s for charter in the United States, the Caribbean, UK and France and are already running 2011 enquiries  for Antigua Race Week, short-handed racing in Europe, the Class 40 Worlds, as well as continuing enquiries for the Global Ocean Race.
