As the final few weeks of build for Spirit of Adventure draw in, the yard are flat out to keep the launch on schedule for 4th December.
Now the hull and deck are joined, access to the interior is restricted and only careful planning is allowing all the different tasks to be completed without people treading on each other’s toes. Quite literally sometimes, as now so much of the final finish is complete the whole boat is a ‘No shoes. No exceptions’ area
One of the hardest tasks to schedule is painting – once the area is tented off no-one else can get in to work, so much of this is done at the weekends to allow the weekdays to be used as fully as possible.
Still outside the boat, the keel case, fin and bulb are progressing well. The case is cast and on its way to Auckland for machining. The fin has been machined and painted and the bulb will be cast this week.
