Sailing trials are due to commence next week after a particularly nasty frontal system leaves NZ this weekend.

Skipper Mike Golding and designers Merfyn Owen and Tim Sadler are on hand to work the new boat up in a wintry Hauraki Gulf along with the MGYR project team.

Once the trials which are of indeterminate length are completed the yacht will head out on a 48 hour shakedown sail before returning to Auckland to complete the obligatory 90 degree stability test.

Once this has been completed, Owen Clarke's project manager Martin Carter will sail the yacht to Tauranga for any final rework before loading her on the ship at the end of July.

Ecover will arrive in Belgium in good time for her official launch in September and her maiden UK appearance on the first three days of the Southampton International Boatshow
