Ian Munslow wins single handed division of Demi Cle Race |

| Having won leg 1 of the Demi Cle race into Crosshaven, completed the short passage to Baltimore in a respectable slot, Ian Munslow won the final leg back to Lorient to claim an overall win in the Singlehanded Division. This is a highlight on what has been a very long and difficult road for the young Yorkshireman who built his own boat and campaigned it on a shoestring in last year’s Mini Transat, gaining a credible 19th slot.
He succeeded in this despite complete electrical and pilot failure as well as two of the more humorous stories of the race. He could only afford one winch handle, which he broke and subsequently had to jury rig by tying a succession of spanners onto it to make it work. Add to this loosing his waterproof trousers and the result was the valiant mariner finishing the race with very sore hands and an even more sore backside!
Ian’s in the comfortable position of already being qualified for next year’s Mini Transat, but is desperately seeking around £10,000 in sponsorship this time to see him through the event.
