Off to a good start on the AZAB |

| On Saturday 2nd June at 1300 the start gun fired for the 2007 Azores and Back race in Falmouth.
Allen Clarke and Ronnie Gould had spent the last few days provisioning the boat and throwing off
excess weight from all the nooks and crannies of Sage. Even the saloon table was evicted. Whether they got down to cutting their toothbrushes in half and removing labels from clothes is unconfirmed.
There was, however, one small concession to luxury. An emergency call was put out for the final visitor to the dockside to pick up some comfy pillows - those currently on the boat just wouldn't do for the sailors to rest their weary heads.
Following their pre-race strategy of setting as short a course as possible, they are currently
on a direct line for the Azores, lying well positioned in the Class 3 fleet.
Winds look to be a steady force 4 for the next couple of days, dropping towards the end
of the week when the fleet nears the islands. |
