More from Liz enjoying the luxury and high life on our high performance cruising boat, Spirit of Adventure: “The morning after leaving the paradise of Opunohu we crossed the water to Papeete, seeing a pod of dolphins on the way out of the bay and stopping quickly in Cooks Bay for breakfast. The pilot decided to hiccup and reset the compass 70 degrees out. We were heading straight for the reef and it wasn't far away. A run for the helm. This time resetting the gyro sorted it out fairly quickly. The harbour in Papeete is right in the centre of the town. We moored stern too and set up the carbon passerelle, which works really well. Nothing much was happening as it was Sunday afternoon, there were only a couple of bars open. Wow, its expensive there. A couple of coffees and a bottle of water will set you back 10 pounds. I was glad my flight was leaving in 12 hours so I didn't have the chance to start spending. All flights leave in the middle of the night though, so I had to stay up till 4am. Good thing I'd been practising being up and about on watch in the middle of the night. I've got all Sigurd's pictures on CD and a bunch of notes and memories to carry back with me. My flight back to the UK starts tomorrow with a quick hop back to New Zealand, so I'll only be on-line in the morning. Arrive back Saturday. Not that I’m looking forward to leaving the boat or Polynesia.” Liz Tier is now back at work here in the UK office for the first time since she flew out to New Zealand to work close to where the boat was being built, some twenty months ago. The client flew back briefly to his home but is now back in Tahiti with his family for their first long cruise together on the boat. He will be with them for around six weeks before they have to fly back to Europe in order for the children to go back to school. What happens next is unsure, the original plan was to sail back to Auckland in October in time for the New Zealand summer. But, with a boat such as Spirit of Adventure, the world is Peter’s oyster. You can go anywhere and you can get there quickly and without crew if need be. He is now considering what to do next, wherever he goes one can be sure he’ll be travelling in style.
