Spirit of Adventure deck leaves the oven

Sunday, 25 May 2003
The pre-preg carbon fibre and Nomex deck of the new Owen Clarke 65' cruising yacht, Spirit of Adventure, has been completed and will shortly be fitted to the hull. The general fit out continues apace with almost all the structural interior components now completed. The fitting of pre-made lightweight furniture is now taking place. Once individual items fit correctly, they will be removed for final veneering and finishing. The yacht's owner arrives shortly at Marten Yachts, along with the yacht's lead designer, Allen Clarke, for a final review of the interior and exterior detail. Meanwhile, Auckland based Southern Spars have commenced construction of the yacht's pre-preg carbon mast and furling boom. Stepping of the rig is due to take place in the Viaduct Basin, at the America's Cup Village in early December.
