Three Owen Clarke open 60’s in the Transat |

| Ecover, Pindar (ex Hexagon) and Team Cowes (ex Kingfisher, co designed with Rob Humphreys) will represent the most formidable entry ever for British open 60’s in any event featuring these greyhounds of the ocean.
Mike Golding’s Ecover will be co-skippered by well-known multihull specialist and former Kingfisher crewman Brian Thompson. Fresh from completing the Around Alone, Emma Richards has brought onto Pindar significant firepower in the form of Volvo and Americas Cup veteran Mike (Moose) Sanderson. Meanwhile, the man with the most experience of his present steed is Nick Moloney driving the ex Kingfisher, now named Team Cowes and supported by Skandia and Cowes Waterfront. His co-skipper is Figaro/mini sailor and fellow Offshore Challenges team member, Sam Davies.

One can imagine that the weather profile of the race should suit the tall rig and narrower lines of Pindar, a boat not encumbered with some of the additional weight associated with 60’s designed specifically for next year’s Vendee Globe. At the same time Ecover represents the results of the latest design and development, particularly with regard to her hull and rig configuration. Both these boats however have either recently come out of the yard, in Pindar's case from a major refit and of course the new Ecover from her builders in New Zealand. With new spars, sails and systems, yet to be race proven it will be interesting to see how these boats perform over the 6000 mile course against the well tried and tested Team Cowes and the rest of the 20+ boat fleet.
