OCD Class 40 skipper aiming for TJV podium again

.... et aller les gars !   OCD's first French campaigned yacht in the Transat Jacques Vabres

With just one week to go before the start of the 2014 Transat Jacques Vabres all but a few of the entries have no arrived and are locked in at the Paul Vatine dock in Le Havre ready for the start next Sunday. Amongst the Class 40 fleet this year there are two Owen Clarke third generation boats, Matouba and 11th Hour Racing.

Hannah Jenner (UK), on 11th Hour Racing wants to better the third place she achieved in the 2012 event in the same boat, then racing as 40 Degrees. For co-skipper Rob Windsor (USA) this is the first time he’ll be taking part in one of the classic Transatlantic Races, although no stranger to Class 40s with a string of races in the United States and elsewhere behind him.

Matouba (ex Cinnamon Girl), is being campaigned by her owner Bertrand Guillonneau (FRA) and well known pro-sailor, Sebastien Audigane (FR). Bertrand  is a surgeon based in Paris and as well as having taken part in many races, chartered a Class 40 for the 2010 Route du Rhum single handed transatlantic race. Seb has sailed professionally in all of the short-handed and was co-skipper of the winning Class 40 in the 2011 Normandy Channel Race.
