Famous Owen Clarke Open 50 returns to race in the UK with new British owner

Owen Clarke Design’s record breaking Open 50 Truth started her journey back to the UK today from California, the first stage being aboard a flat bed truck across the US to the port of Brunswick, Georgia. The job of preparing the boat, cradle, two keels , two masts and breaking everything down and packaged up on a single platform for the trip was undertaken by San Francisco based Ashley Perrin Racing Yacht Management.

Truth, under her previous guises; Pegasus and Artforms, holds a clutch of records in both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans (including the outright 24 hour record for a 50’ yacht) was last in the UK prior to being raced to victory in the 2006 Route du Rhum, by American yachtsman Kip Stone. Her new owner, well known British short-handed yachtsman Ross Hobson intends to campaign her in the 2018 event and in the build up compete in the double-handed Transat Jacques Vabres and a host of other races on the European circuit.
