Javier Sanso gybed his Owen Clarke-Clay Oliver designed Open 60 onto port today for the first time since reporting an impact and running over something three days ago. As a result he was able to observe that the lower portion of his port rudder had taken an impact and broken off.

Vendee Record
Owen Clarke's IMOCA 60 designs and their sailors' performance in solo events have been consistent. Together they've won the IMOCA 60 Class in the Route du Rhum and twice in the Transat Anglais (OSTAR). In the 2008 Vendee Globe, Mike Golding (Ecover 3) was leading before he was dismasted south of Australia.

US sailor Alex Mehran crossed the line early Monday morning on his Owen Clarke designed Open 50 Truth to set a new solo Transpac record. His passage time of 8d 12h and 21m demolished sixteen year old record held by the Open 60 Wild Thing by nearly two and a half days.
