Kip Stone and Merf Owen crossed the finish line in Bahia on Open 50 Artforms at 1346 local time (16:46:51 GMT), Friday 25th November, to secure 2nd place in one of the closest finishes the Transat Jacques Vabre.

Footing in a rare eight knots of breeze north of the Gulf StreamArtforms takes the double in the Bermuda 1-2
Kip Stone and designer Merfyn Owen arrived in Newport, Rhode Island, in first place at 08:17 EST, 19 June to complete a successful double winning both legs of the Bermuda 1-2 and setting up a new record time for the outward leg of 66 hrs 57 minutes.

Despite breaking his main halyard twice, three ascents of the rig and sailing the last 50 miles without a keel. Golding completed the course from the tip of Africa due south of the Cape of Good Hope, in an amazing 1d 19h 29m faster than the winning boat PRB.

It might have been a rather dejected and slump-shouldered Mike Golding that sailed across the finish line of the Vendee Globe in the early hours of this morning, if the keel had still been attached to his Open 60 yacht Ecover.
