 With the design work well underway a new lifting keel Class 40 derivative for high latitudes cruising commences construction at Alwoplast SA Chile for an experienced sailor and boatyard owner.

 Owen Clarke’s 12m lifting keel shallow draft performance cruising yacht being built in Chile is coming along nicely. Meanwhile lead designer Allen Clarke in co-operation with the client and design staff at the shipyard are completing the design of a significantly different coachroof and deck layout to that which we previously published.

 Longbow - Custom Class 40 Open 2014 - Born in the USA-Redesign 
 Carbon Ocean Yachts, Bristol, Rhode Island, USA have started to build Longbow, a new Owen Clarke Design Class 40 for an American owner. The design team includes Clay Oliver, engineering by PURE and weather modelling data from Chris Bedford.
 Pierre Brasseur (Matouba) finishes Route du Rhum-Redesign 
 Pierre Brasseur (Matouba) finished sixth (fifth after Jury decision) across the finish line at 03:27:44 hrs UTC Thursday morning. The skipper of the 2009 Owen-Clarke design took 17d14h27m44s to sail the 3542 miles from Saint Malo to Pointe a Pitre of the Route du Rhum Destination Guadeloupe.

 The Carkeek designed IRC 47 Black Pearl is the handicap winner of the 2017 Cape to Rio Race. OCD made a considerable contribution to her success.
 OCD Class 40 breaks Cape to Rio Race double-handed record and finishes 4th overall under IRC-Redesign 
 I’m not sure how we missed this, but we did. Class 40s traditionally don’t do well on IRC, especially when sailed double-handed against fully crewed crewed boats. The Mussolo 40 team however turned reality on its head when they finished fourth overall on corrected time in this years Cape to Rio Race, while breaking the double-handed record.
 OCD's new Class 40 Hydra arrives in the UK-Redesign 
 Owen Clarke Design’s latest Class 40, Hydra, will be unloading in Southampton from her builders Cape Racing Yachts, early next month. She will be based in Hamble for a time undertaking measurement and sail development trials with North Sails, before heading north to her new home in Norway.

 New Owen Clarke Class 40 heading north-Redesign 
 Hydra is the OCD latest fifth generation Class 40 Open design from South African boatyard Cape Racing Yachts. She is a fast forty foot prototype design that is being built now as a series production boat in female moulds. In her first race she finished second in the 2017 RORC Myth of Malham Race.
