Class 40 Dragon roars into Newport, with overall line honours in the 1-2

Posted on 22nd June 2021

Congratulations Mike Hennessy and Cole Brauer, overall line honours and first in Class 40 in the return leg of the Bermuda 1-2, the premier USA/North America short-handed racing event. The second leg result imitated Mike’s clean sweep on the solo outbound leg. Dragon finished 29 miles ahead of the second placed boat, the Farr 63, Kiwi Spirit. With some of the fleet still to finish, corrected time results are still to be confirmed.

Mike’s victory comes on the back of a great weekend for Owen Clarke Design, winning the Ocean Race with their recently modified ten-year-old IMOCA 60 design, Offshore Team Germany. Dragon, a Class 40 is also more than ten years old, hull number #54, continually developed with new rig, sailplan and keel over the years to keep her competitive in the North American fleet.
