The Cigale 14 is a unique performance cruising yacht: Back in 1997 when the hull design was first conceived it incorporated design features which were then only to be found in a maxi or open class racing sailboat. The Cigale is a so-called ULDB: Ultra-Light Displacement Boat, built in aluminium and ideally suited for fast passage adventures. Jean Marie Finot originally designed the yacht for himself. Each Cigale has a water-ballast-system (also found in the Pogo 40s) to add ballast when sailing in harsh conditions. She is very stable yet at 8.5 tons, a light, strong sailing boat.
One of the most desirable features is her internal layout. No other yacht before or after bear such a configuration. Upon entering the saloon via the companionway, one is found standing amid the completely open plan aft section of the yacht. A large dining table with a huge U-settee is as inviting as one can imagine. Windows all around the stern section of the hull will guarantee almost a 280-degree view of the seascape. That is pure genius! There are also pilot berths outboard for extra guests/crew. Facing forward to port a large galley with all amenities you wish for, a large navigation station with proper chart table and instruments to the starboard side. Sleeping cabins are to be found in the forward sections with two large double cabins and a further twin cabin. The engine is centralised in the boat to optimise weight distribution. The Cigale 14 is a true performance cruising yacht, designed and set up to enable swift easily managed shorthanded passages with all control lines lead aft to the expansive cockpit. This particular boat is very well equipped and with enough recent upgrades and maintenance to allow a new owner to go long distance cruising.
