Lynx, our 15m lifting keel high latitude explorer and blue water cruising boat has left cover for the first time for shot-blasting prior to final fit-out. The aluminium structure and appendages have been built at Koopmans Kosko, Holland and will be fitted out nearby where the process will be project managed by her Swiss owner/skipper.
Lynx represents the latest in small explorer yacht design, aimed specifically at families/small groups for short-handed, fast passages and with the ability to then remain in remote areas without support for prolonged periods,
She is primarily a private yacht yet designed to comply with the MGN 280 code to allow for commercial/charter voyages in all oceans and polar regions. This yacht is the culmination of over a year of combined design effort with her Swiss owner and is already referred to as ‘little Qilak’.
Rigged with a twin spreader Axxon carbon mast the sailplan includes an easy to handle downwind wardrobe, furling/reefing jib and a furling staysail. Analysis over a number of courses indicates an average passage speed greater than 8 kts and an impressive range under motor in excess of 3.000 miles with generous reserve.
