New 24-metre expedition sailing yacht design released to global tender

OC Project 200, a groundbreaking innovative 24-metre aluminium lifting keel explorer yacht for commercial charter and private expedition sailing has officially been released to tender by Owen Clarke Design. She marks a significant milestone in the development of a next-generation long-range cruising platform. The project is now being presented to a select group of leading aluminium yacht builders in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres as part of a comprehensive construction evaluation and yard selection process.
Designed to deliver exceptional offshore capability, comfort, and self-sufficiency, this 24-metre yacht combines robust expedition credentials with elegant contemporary styling. Developed for extended world cruising, the Category A vessel is designed and engineered to the new MCA ‘Sport or Pleasure Vessel Code’ with additional allowance for ice accretion to MCA MSIS003/Part 8/28.3.
The all-aluminium lifting keel design features a reinforced hull for operations around ice, excellent performance under sail, and a highly efficient deck and sailplan optimised for short-handed operation. Intended to support long to extreme duration voyages to remote destinations, the yacht has been conceived with sustainability, reliability, and ease of maintenance as key priorities, reflecting the growing demand for capable expedition yachts that can operate independently across global cruising grounds.
The tender package includes detailed design drawings, performance requirements and a fifty seven page technical, systems and engineering specification. Participating shipyards have been invited to submit proposals covering build schedules, technical capabilities, project management frameworks, and cost estimates. The process has already attracted strong interest from some of the world's most respected aluminium yacht construction specialists.
Representatives of the highly experienced clients stated that the international tender strategy was adopted to identify the shipyard best positioned to deliver the yacht's ambitious performance, quality, and innovation objectives, irrespective of geographic constraints. By engaging builders across multiple regions, the project team aims to leverage a broad range of expertise in custom aluminium yacht construction.
